Esther and Salma
Dar Souiri / Centre Culturel (Essaouira)
Already in the 3rd edition:
The Esther and Salma Encounters were born of a conviction: exile is not merely an ordeal; it is a journey. A wound, at times, but also a transformation.
At a time when borders are closing and identities are hardening, we take the opposite path: one of dialogue, complexity, and encounter.
We believe that culture can reopen the spaces that fear shuts off.
The Encounters are more than just a festival. They are a commitment. A commitment to free expression, to passing things on, and to the courage of connecting the personal with the political.
Cinema, theater, music, contemporary art, debates: each work is chosen to serve as a bridge.
We invite artists, thinkers, and witnesses to explore these questions with us—leaving, staying, passing on, and engaging.
Turning the border into a passageway.
Turning the ordeal into a source of strength.
Turning the story into a bond.
